Qld: Unions step up anti-sale campaign

Unions plan to step up their campaign against the Queensland government's asset sales
in 2010 .. flagging more strikes and an advertising blitz.

But they've played down talk of a possible special conference of the ALP .. to force
the government into backing down on the 15 billion dollar privatisation plan.

The Queensland Council of Unions today launched a series of radio ads to air over the
next few months .. citing a report by senior economists who say the government is conning
Queenslanders over the state of the economy in order to justify the asset sale.

QCU general secretary RON MONAGHAN says he wouldn't rule out more industrial action
.. such as the 13 hundred Queensland Rail workers walking off the job last week.
